We focus on the design, study and application of functional liquids. This includes metal-containing ionic liquids, in particular Lewis acidic systems, and Brønsted acidic ionic liquids, as well as other advanced liquid materials.
Using spectroscopic and scattering techniques, we study the speciation and structure of the liquid phase. This fundamental knowledge is then used to develop Lewis acidic and Brønsted acidic catalytic systems, as well as liquid precursors to inorganic materials, and battery electrolytes.
